TripAdvisor’s excellence award for both restaurants

In 2018, both Meet Meat Uccle and Meet Meat Schuman (EU district) were awarded a certificate of excellence by TripAdvisor.

TripAdvisor is the world’s largest travel site. To quote them “Since 2011, the Certificate of Excellence honors hospitality businesses that deliver consistently great service across the world. … To qualify a business must:  – Maintain an overall TripAdvisor rating of at least four out of five – Have a minimum number of reviews – Have been listed on TripAdvisor for at least twelve months. … To determine Certificate of Excellence recipients, we use a variety of user-generated content. We use an algorithm that primarily takes into account the quality, quantity, and recency of user reviews, as well as the business’ tenure on the site.”

In 2013, TripAdvisor rewarded Meet Meat Schuman (EU district) for the first time and since then, every year we were recognised by this award. We started Meet Meat Uccle in 2015 and it was first rewarded in 2017.

We are obvious delighted by this recognition and we would like to thank all our guests that took the time to complete a review on TripAdvisor.

Every day, we strive to give you, our customer, the best experience by providing good food, good wine and good service. Just looking at the smile of the people when they leave our restaurants, we think that overall we have achieved this goal. We are also comforted in that belief by the numerous compliments we get from our guests. We always appreciate a feedback, it helps us to progress.

The current menus of Meet Meat

By clicking on the links below, you can view the current menu and wine list for each restaurant. As we work with fresh products, we adapt our menus to reflect the seasons and the market.

We serve almost the same dishes in both restaurants but there are some small differences.

The obvious difference is the language used: the first language of Meet Meat Schuman’s menu is English and for Uccle it is French.

William Ingram in Uccle

A dozen works of the photographer are exhibited in our restaurant in Uccle.

William Mark Ingram studied photography at the University of Oregon in the United States. After graduation, he decided to move to Europe to immerse himself in a new cultural experience. In the early 1990s, he settled in London and specialized in platinum printing. Nude and portraiture are the main themes of his photographic work. His interest in the bestiary begins from this period with the black and white portrait of a bull in reference to Greek mythology. Then, strongly influenced by Flemish painting, the artist naturally drew his inspiration from the beauty and strength of the landscapes of Flanders where he has lived for a few years. The landscapes of his Flemish Landscapes series are thus minutely composed as a picture and always marked by the troubling presence of an imaginary or real animal.

Des rhums de la Barbade, de la Martinique, du Pérou...

A nice way to conclude a meal…

It’s traditional to end a meal with a digestif. Even if serious scientific studies have shown that liqueurs and spirits don’t improve the way to digest a meal, there is no reason why one shouldn’t enjoy a nice glass of some sort of brandy and enjoy a good time.

We at Meet Meat, have chosen to look at special rums. We have made some great discoveries and we will be happy to share them with you.  For example, we have tasted an extra old rum from Martinique, a 12-year-old rum from the Barbados, one from Guatemala and one from Peru.

As one would expect, we recommend moderation and that you drink sensibly… only the best. Be prudent if you must drive home and in doubt ask someone else to take the wheel.

Our steak house menu gets a new twist

Since mid-October, not only we have changed our menu format but also introduced some new exciting dishes such as a pepper steak.

Regulars of our restaurants will have certainly noticed that we have abandoned our square-hard-cover food and drinks menu and replaced it by a journal like one. On one side the food and on the other our extensive wine list.

Our great Argentinian traditional beef steaks are still in the headline but we have added some interesting and tasty developments. A roasted marrow bone as starter can now be followed by the pepper and garlic butter steak and you should consider finishing your meal with the Copa Argentina.

Our new pepper steak dish is a 350g ribeye that when half cooked, is flipped over and rubbed with crushed pepper and topped by garlic butter.

The Copa Argentina is a special dish for sweet tooth: one scoop of dulce de leche ice cream on top of dulce the leche and a shot of old rum.

On the wine side, we are continuously looking for interesting and affordable wines. Even, if we have a large selection of Argentinian wines, our choice is fairly eclectic and maybe sometimes surprising. All were carefully selected. A dozen wines were elected to be offered by the glass, these are fairly representative of their region and their grapes.

back from holidays
